Your support makes all the difference.Liam Gallagher has shared his delight after Reading and Leeds festivals organisers announced the twin events would take place in August this year.
The announcement came shortly after Prime Minister Boris Johnson laid out the government’s roadmap to get England out of lockdown by 21 June.
Gallagher is part of the lineup that has been rolled over from last year, along with fellow headliners Stormzy and Post Malone.
“READING n LEEDS c’mon you f***ers,” he tweeted after the news.
He added in a message to fans: “Send us your Setlist / Wishlist and I’ll see what I can do for youse can’t wait to see all your little happy faces peace n love LG.”
Gallagher is likely to perform a number of Oasis classics, along with songs from his two solo albums: As You Were, and Why Me? Why Not, both of which topped the charts upon their release.
Reading and Leeds is currently scheduled to take place from 27 to 29 August, and could attract up to 200,000 fans across the two festivals.
Festival Republic director Melvin Benn told The Guardian that the event is not yet insured as companies are currently refusing to cover cancellations due to Covid-19.
However, he said he was hopeful that the government would include an insurance package “in some form or another” in the budget next week.
“Reading and Leeds 2021,” the festival’s official Twitter account said on Wednesday 24 February. “Following the government’s recent announcement, we can’t wait to get back to the fields this summer. LET’S GO.”
