From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference. After doing an incredible job on the music video for ‘Alright’, Kendrick Lamar brought director Colin Tilley back for ‘These Walls’, another epic, narrative led video with stunning visuals.
It centres on a wild house party in the projects, which comedian Corey Holcomb tells in retrospect, explaining how Kendrick landed him in prison.
The highlight of the video however is an entirely unexpected cameo from Terry Crews, who appears to be staging a robbery with Kendrick only to end up dancing to iHeart Memphis’ 'Hit The Quan' with K-Dot at a low budget talent show.
Billed as ‘Behind The Walls: A black comedy’, the video comes with a ‘To be continued…’ at the close.
'These Walls' is the second single to be taken from Kendrick’s career-defining To Pimp A Butterfly album, following ‘Alright’, the video for which saw him flying through the streets of Compton before being shot down by a white police officer.
