From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Kendal Calling has announced a huge lineup for its 2018 event, with artists including Catfish & the Bottlemen, The Libertines, Run DMC, The Amazons, Tom Grennan, Yonaka and White Lies all set to perform.

Set in the Lake District's Lowther Deer Park, this unique festival has grown into a firm favourite for both families and dedicated music fans.

On top of a stellar lineup, guests can also enjoy four days of art installations, comedy, gourmet food options (as well as festival favourites), children's entertainment and a real ale festival.

For those wanting to kick up their heels a bit, the Glow Dance Stage is offering DJ sets from Basement Jaxx, Gorgon City, Idris Elba, and sets from Grandmaster Flash and Mistajam.

Festival director Andy Smith said: "We're thrilled to be heading into our 13th year and can't wait to head back to the beautiful Lake District for another weekend of music, art, food and a couple of Kend-ales.

"We're lucky to have one of our biggest lineups ever and can't wait to welcome hip hop royalty Run DMC to the festival alongside our other headliners Catfish & the Bottlemen, The Libertines, and Hacienda Classical. See you in the fields!"

Kendal Calling takes place between 26-29 July 2018 - tickets go on sale at 10am on 8 February.
