From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Andre touched down in LA on Friday night to work with Kanye in the studio on his new album, and according to TMZ got an Uber there because that’s the kind of chill guy he is.
He apparently accidentally selected the Pool option however, and ended up riding with another passenger.
As if rolling with one half of Outkast wasn’t cool enough, the woman was then invited to the studio having bonded with 3000 over their having lived in the same place.
She apparently was introduced to French Montana, P Diddy, Kid Cudi and 2 Chainz, who were already there hard at work on the new album.
Waves has undergone a number of name and personnel changes, most recently tracked by Ye’s notepad, which keeps being photographed every time new collaborators sign.
The album will drop on 11 February, premiering at Madison Square Garden during West’s Yeezy Season 3 New York Fashion Week presentation.
Collabs with Kendrick Lamar, Ty Dolla $ign and Sia are confirmed, with Chance the Rapper also expected to feature.
