From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Justin Bieber has announced a brand-new album for 2020, and a new single titled “Yummy” to be released on 3 January.

This will be Bieber's first album and tour since marrying model Hailey Baldwin.

The 25-year-old also revealed he plans to tour US and Canada between May and September, and appear in a new documentary TV series.

Bieber took an extended hiatus from music in 2017 after cancelling the final 14 dates of his Purpose World Tour due to exhaustion.

This year, however, he has collaborated with a number of artists, including as a guest vocalist on Ed Sheeran’s song “I Don’t Care”, and with Billie Eilish on a remix of her hit “Bad Guy”.

“As humans we are imperfect,” he can be heard saying in a teaser “super trailer” for his 2020 plans.

“My past, my mistakes, all the things that I've been through… I believe that I'm right where I'm supposed to be and God has me right where he wants me.”

The promo video finds Bieber, wearing his trademark baggy hoodie and woolly hat, sitting outside a petrol station and wandering around a trailer park near Los Angeles as he contemplates his next move.

Earlier this year, Bieber wrote about his struggles with drug use and depression in an emotional essay, in which he described himself as “the most hated person in the world”.

“I feel like this is different from the previous albums just because of where I'm at with my life,” he goes on in the video. “I'm excited to perform it and to tour it.
