Just Madonna, getting caught in a veil nearly a year after her Brits cape fall
Perhaps it's time to rethink the repeated use of potentially hazardous accessories

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The US singer was performing her Eighties hit “Material Girl” on stage at Bangkok’s Impact Arena when a long wedding veil she was wearing became caught, making for a highly awkward moment with two backing dancers.
Fortunately, there was no dramatic backwards fall down any steps, but it certainly made Madonna look far less professional than the rest of her Rebel Heart tour has proved. Naturally, however, she laughed off the tangle and continued to whoops from the crowd.
The 57-year-old is widely praised for her energetic live shows, but perhaps hazardous costumes should be banned before she seriously injures both her body and her ego.
Madonna admitted crying “from humiliation” after her disastrous Brits fall during an interview with Ellen DeGeneres. “Nothing hurt on me,” she said. “That’s just the weirdest thing. I’m hard on myself. I don’t want to see any part of the performance…”
Madonna is not the only one to risk life and limb during concerts. Beyonce narrowly saved herself from taking an embarrassing tumble during the Super Bowl Half-Time Show last Sunday. The “Formation” singer disguised the mishap as a dance move, as only she could.
