According to the Sun, news of Nelson’s planned hiatus was confirmed in a statement issued by the singer’s publicist, which cited “private medical reasons”.
The announcement follows shortly after Nelson previously missed a series of the band’s most recent TV appearances, including the final of their BBC One show The Search on 7 November.
At the time, a spokesperson said: “Jesy is unwell and will not be appearing on tonight’s final episode of Little Mix: The Search.”
They also confirmed that Nelson would not join the band to host the MTV European Music Awards the following night (8 November).
Most recently on Friday (13 November), the singer sparked further concern among fans when Little Mix appeared on TV without Nelson for a third time during Children in Need.
One fan tweeted: “Hope Jesy is ok as has been missing lately and also wasn’t with the girls tonight on @BBCCiN sending hugs @LittleMix.”
Nelson was last seen on the penultimate episode of The Search (6 November), which was delayed from last Saturday (31 October).
The band – who found fame when they won X Factor in 2011 – is scheduled to go on tour in April next year.
The Independent called Little Mix’s new album “a glamorous statement of independence”.
