From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Jess Glynne has been given a lifetime ban from performing at the Isle of Wight festival, after cancelling her performance with a few minutes notice on Sunday (16 June).
Festival boss John Giddings has told The Mirror that the “Hold My Hand” singer will “never” be booked for the event again, calling her behaviour “shocking”.
“It shows no regards for people that bought a ticket. It’s so sad that an artist would do that to their fans,” he said. “She’s let them down.” Giddings delivered the bad news to disappointed fans on Sunday.
Athough the singer cited anxiety and exhaustion as reasons for her cancellation, The Mirror reports that she was seen leaving Wembley at 5am on Sunday with Spice Girl Mel B and a group of friends. The star has been supporting the Spice Girls on their reunion tour.
Glynne, Mel B and co reportedly continued the party at a nearby hotel until 7am.
A statement from the singer and her management stated that she had “every intention of performing”, was “extremely frustrated” at having to cancel but “her health must come first”.
This is the second time Glynne has pulled out of an Isle of Wight festival slot – she cancelled her 2015 performance in order to undergo vocal surgery. She also pulled out of her BBC Radio 1 Big Weekend performance earlier this year, minutes before she was on due on stage.
Jess Glynne's representatives have been contacted for comment.
