Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The 'You Make It Real' hitmaker - who recently parted ways with Polydor, his label of six years - has confirmed his third record will be released on September 26.
Writing on his twitter page, he said: "OK, so the news is out! My third album, The Awakening, is out Sept 26 (sic)." James recently admitted he had to consciously "try to forget" some of the things he'd learned about making music for his third album, as he wanted it to return to his roots and not produce something a record which is not too over-commercial.
He told BANG Showbiz: "It's my favourite piece of work so far, I tried to forget what I'd learned before and do what I wanted to do in the first place, but I didn't have any experience to do. So I made an album that felt real and not over-commercial and tried to just write good songs."
'The Awakening' - the follow-up to 2008's 'Songs for You, Truths for Me' - has been produced by former Suede guitarist Bernard Butler.
