On Easter Sunday, the rapper wrote on Twitter and Instagram: “I pray my haters die of coronavirus.”
Many of his followers took issue with the message, with former UFC star Gerald Harris replying: “Man you need some online church services and a hug. This is the worst timed tweet ever. There are people actually mourning the loss of loved ones now, due to the virus. Bad movie big homie.”
One Instagram user wrote: “This ain’t it big dog. This isn’t in alignment with your growth. You’re better than this.”
“It will infect the lovers too dude,” wrote another on Twitter.
Travis Scott, meanwhile, joked: “Happy Easter Gang.”
Mane has not yet responded to the backlash.
His message comes as the worldwide death toll from coronavirus surpasses 100,000.
