From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Taylor Swift fans are furious that the musician failed to win at the 2019 Grammys, having been nominated for a single award.

Reputation lost to Ariana Grande’s Sweetener in the category of Best Pop Vocal Album, making it the singer’s first-ever win at Grammys. Grande lost her other nomination for Best Pop Solo Performance to Lady Gaga.

One fan wrote on Twitter: “Taylor Swift doesn’t need the #GRAMMYs this era. With her last album she made the music she wanted to, said everything she needed to say, and reclaimed her reputation. ugh i truly love @taylorswift13 with my whole heart.”

Swift herself did not attend the Grammys, but was seen at the Bafta Awards afterparty in London, attending in support of her boyfriend Joe Alwyn, who starred in The Favourite. The film had the most wins of the night, earning seven awards including Oustanding British Film.

“AHHHHH @thefavouritemovie just won 7 @bafta awards !!! Bout to go give some high fives – thanks @stellamccartney for this dressss,” Swift wrote on Instagram.

“Taylor Swift ignoring the Grammys because she knows that she deserved more is VERY BIG ENERGY,” a fan wrote on Twitter about her reaction.
