Glastonbury 2017: Daft Punk and Stone Roses will not headline, says Emily Eavis

The world may now know who is headlining Glastonbury 2017 (well, one act anyway), but it's now been confirmed who definitely won't be making an appearance.

Organiser Emily Eavis told NME that there is no truth to the rumours which suggested both Daft Punk and Stone Roses would be playing Worthy Farm next summer.

“There’s no more [headliner] announcements now for a while, but I will tell you the other two that have been rumoured aren’t happening,” she said. “There was a news story that said Daft Punk and Stone Roses. That’s not true. I don’t know where that came from.”

Following the Radiohead confirmation (they'll play the Pyramid Stage on Friday 23 June), Eavis refused to comment on other rumoured acts which currently include Guns 'N Roses, Kings of Leon and Lady Gaga.

“Other rumours can roll and that’s fine. Pretty much everyone is rumoured every year. That’s great, but everybody was keen to get [Radiohead] out and let people know as this was such a big one.”

She revealed that festivalgoers can expect to hear more line-up announcements in the new year but assured them that 2017 will not be a year to miss.

"...Because we’re having a year off in ’18, we’re cramming two years of music into next year,” Eavis said. “We’re quite far down the line. It’s looking so good. We’re certainly all there with all of our headliners across all stages.”

Glastonbury 2017 will take place from 21-25 June.
