And it's all Stephen King's fault

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference. As I write this, hundreds of people around the country are currently packing up their wellies in preparation for a weekend of mud and music.
Yes, Glastonbury Festival is right around the corner, but unfortunately, fans of Idris Elba - AKA DJ Driis - won’t be able to see the Luthor star spinning vinyl as he has pulled out of his DJ slot.
Having played the festival last year, the actor has been forced to pull his Sonic slot last minute due to a conflict with filming The Dark Tower, an adaptation of Stephen King’s novels.
In an apologetic video, he said: "Glastonbury, it is with a very heavy heart that I let you know that I can't make it this year. I have to cancel my gig at the very last minute. It's not my fault. My film schedule changed at the last minute.
"Last year I had a wicked time. A lot of you came out and heard me DJ for the first time and I was so looking forward to coming back and doing it again, so I'm sorry. Go, have a wicked time, enjoy yourselves - it's going to be amazing this year. Massive, massive line-up. Enjoy it and don't forget - vote. EU referendum. Massively important. Do it.”
Luckily, there are a number of acts playing when Drills was meant to hit the decks (between 7.45pm and 9.15pm). First up is Tame Impala, playing the Pyramid stage at 8pm, while if you want to keep things upbeat, Fatboy Slim is hitting the John Peel stage at 8.30pm.
In other news, the weather shouldn’t be too bad this weekend for Glastonbury (fingers crossed). Meanwhile, make sure you haven’t forgotten anything with our comprehensive packing guide.
