McDonald's calls Kanye West out on his McRib poem on Frank Ocean album Blonde

A meat-based avant-garde poem discrepancy

Kanye West and McDonald’s are having a little beef over beef.

Kanye penned a surreal little poem for Frank Ocean’s Boys Don’t Cry magazine this week, centring on a political struggle among the McDonald’s menu (full poem below).

In one stanza, he writes: “Even the McRib was jealous of the fries / I could see it through his artificial meat eyes”.

McDonald’s were happy with the shout-out, which will no doubt give them a sales boost, but quick to clarify the content of their McRib on Twitter, writing: “We’re loving’ the love for McDonald’s World Famous Fries and Apple Pies. Like the beef in our burgers our love for our fans’ creativity is 100% real.”

Mostly I just enjoy thinking about the McDonald's social media team of 30+ who were locked in a meeting room for a day like, ‘how do we reply to a postmodern Kanye West poem in a way that will engage our followers?’

‘The McDonald’s Man’, by Kanye West

McDonalds Man

McDonalds Man

The french fries had a plan

The french fries had a plan

The salad bar and the ketchup made a band

Cus the french fries had a plan

The french fries had a plan

McDonalds Man

McDonalds

I know them french fries have a plan

I know them french fries have a plan

The cheeseburger and the shakes formed a band

To overthrow the french fries plan

I always knew them french fries was evil man

Smelling all good and shit

I don't trust no food that smells that good man

I don't trust it

I just can't

McDonalds Man

McDonalds Man

McDonalds, damn

Them french fries look good tho

I knew the Diet Coke was jealous of the fries

I knew the McNuggets was jealous of the fries

Even the McRib was jealous of the fries

I could see it through his artificial meat eyes

And he only be there some of the time

Everybody was jealous of them french fries

Except for that one special guy

That smooth apple pie
