From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Florence + The Machine have covered Ben E. King's classic "Stand By Be" for the release of Final Fantasy XV.

The track features as part of the latest trailer for the iconic Final Fantasy franchise's newest offering; fusing the game's usual elements into a world now similar to ours, where Crown Prince Noctis must defend his kingdom against the warmongering empire, Niflheim. The game looks to combine its mainstays such as the franchise's chocobos and airships, with brand new mechs and creatures alongside driving capabilities.

"I’ve always seen Final Fantasy as mythical, beautiful and epic,” Florence Welch stated. "Stand by Me" is one of the greatest songs probably of all time and you can’t really improve on it, you just have to make it your own. For me it was just about bringing the song into the world of Florence + the Machine and the world of Final Fantasy.”

Elsewhere, Sony announced a CG feature film based on the game's story will be released in conjunction with the game; with Sean Bean, Lena Heady, and Aaron Paul all lending their voices.

Final Fantasy XV will be released 30 September, on both Xbox One and Playstation 4.
