The legendary punk singer and her band will headline the East London music festival on Sunday 7 June.
Field Day regular Caribou, also known as Dan Snaith will headline the Eat Your Own Ears stage on Saturday 6 June.
The announcement follows news that British rock band Ride are to reunite and play Field Day on the Sunday as part of a series of tour dates in Europe and North America.
Liverpudlian singer-songwriter Jane Weaver and New Jersey band Ducktails will join Ride and Patti Smith on the Sunday.
Other confirmed Saturday acts include Australian electronica musician Chet Faker, Mercury Prize nominees Django Django, German techno DJ Ben Klock and British DJ Andrew Weatherall.
More acts for the two-day music festival are due to be announced soon.
Field Day will be held in Victoria Park on 6-7 June. Tickets are on sale now (www.fielddayfestivals.com).
