Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.February sees the release of Sade's Soldier of Love, the group's first album since 2000. Also out this month are Lil Wayne's Rebirth and Massive Attack's Heligoland.
Here are some release highlights for the month of February:
Lil Wayne
'Rebirth'
February 1/2 (International/USA)
Rebirth is Lil Wayne's long-rumored rock album, although the album is still apparently rap-heavy, with guest appearances by Eminem, Shanell, Kevin Rudolf, and Nicki Minaj. Lil Wayne's previous full-length album, The Carter III, won a Grammy Award and went triple-platinum in the US and made Top 100 charts around Europe.
Nick Jonas & The Administration
'Who I Am'
February 1/2 (International/USA)
From the side project of Nick Jonas, one third of the pop sensation the Jonas Brothers. Jonas was apparently inspired by Bruce Springsteen in creating the politically themed album.
Sade
'Soldier of Love'
February 8/9 (International/US)
Sade, which features the famous soul-jazz singer, has been drumming up buzz since announcing the release of Soldier of Love. The album is the band's first since 2000's Lover's Rock, which topped charts throughout Europe and North America.
Massive Attack
'Heligoland'
February 8/9 (International/US)
Another long-awaited release, Heligoland is the legendary trip-hop duo's first new album since 2003's 100th Window. The album, which includes the single "Paradise Circus," features guest vocals from Damon Albarn, Hope Sandoval, Martina Topley-Bird, Guy Garvey and Tunde Adebimpe.
'Glee: The Music, Volume 1'
February 15
UK
Out in the US since November, the first volume of music from the hit US television show Glee is now due to be released in the UK. After the show recently began airing on British television, the release of the album was apparently rushed due to "incredible public demand." The cast's rendition of "Don't Stop Believin'" is currently topping the British singles chart.
David Byrne and Fatboy Slim
'Here Lies Love'
February 22/23 (International/USA)
An unusual collaboration from the minds of Talking Heads' David Byrne and DJ/producer Fatboy Slim. This song cycle about Imelda Marcos on two CDs and a DVD features a range of guest singers including Cyndi Lauper, Natalie Merchant, and Tori Amos.
