Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Music's a wonderful way to let all your frustrations out.

During his Saturday night set at Reading Festival, Eminem helped to momentarily release the strain of one of the world's major current causes of anger and frustration, Donald Trump.

"So Reading," the rapper began, "I'm not about to stand up here and use this f*ckin' stage for some kind of a platform to be all political and sh*t, and I don't want to cause any controversy so I won't say no names -- but this motherf*cker Donald Trump I can't stand!"

After the audience cheered and began chanting "F*ck Donald Trump" on their own initiative, Eminem then corralled them with a call-and-response: "When I say 'f*ck', you say 'Trump'!"

After this continued for a little white, The Real Slim Shady then said, "'Cause he's got our country f*cked up in America", before segueing into "White America".

Before the election, Eminem released an eight-minute anti-Trump track titled "Campaign Speech", with lines including: "A f*ckin' loose cannon who's blunt with his hand on the button/ Who doesn't have to answer to no one—great idea!"

Eminem certainly isn't the first to express his distaste for Trump through chant, with The Simpsons creator Matt Groening leading Comic-Con crowds to repeat the phrase "Lock him up!".
