From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

True to his word, the rapper has announced the release date of his fourth studio album, Views from the 6, debuting the single 'Summer Sixteen' on his Apple Beats 1 radio show while simultaneously releasing it online.
Produced by long-time collaborator Noah “40” Shebib, Boi-1da, and CuBeatz, the lyrics take playful shots at fellow rappers Jay-Z and Kanye West, rapping: “I used to wanna be on Roc-A-Fella, then I turned into Jay / Now I got a house in LA / Now I got a bigger pool than Ye / and look man, Ye’s pool is nice / Mine's just big is what I'm saying.” Listen below.
Also referenced is President of the United States Obama - who recently said Kendrick Lamar was a better rapper than Drake - in the lines: "Tell Obama that my verses are just like the whips that he in, they bulletproof.”
This isn’t the first time Drake has debuted new music through his Beats show. Both his Future collar mixtape, Meek Mill diss track ‘Charged Up’ and ‘Hotline Bling’ all made appearances on the show before being officially released.
Drake said the new album should be out in April, saying he was “working overtime” to finish it. There is still no exact date.
