Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Essex-born artist Declan J Donovan has shared his new song "Human Way" via 0E0E Records; penned during a bout of anxiety and depression.
The moving track was inspired by the birth of his nephew, which Donovan says gave him a new outlook on life at a time where he was struggling with his progression as an artist.
"I thought everything I was doing in music wasn't going to work," he said. "But I wrote the song around the time my nephew was born and it really put everything I was feeling into perspective, giving me that motivation to start writing songs again and to take my music more seriously."
We're premiering the track, which is released today, along with a Q&A with the artist - check it out below:
Q&A with Declan J Donovan
What are you listening to at the moment?
I've been listening to a lot of Acoustic music this year like Dermot Kennedy/Jade Bird and loving Bruno Manor at the moment
What are your plans for 2018?
My plan for 2018 is to be as busy as possible, I've got an EP on the way later this year and plans to do my first headline tour! And hopefully get out to Europe and US to do some shows!
What was the first gig you played and what's been the best so far?
My first gig was an open mic my college tutor at the time set up, probably the most nervous I've ever been to do a show! But I loved it once I played a couple songs. Hopefully the 3 people in the crowd enjoyed it too haha.
The best gig I've played has got to be supporting Jake Bugg in Galway last year, my mums family are from there and she flew out with my step Dad for the show, And the crowd were amazing and really welcoming
