The young musician challenged Grohl earlier this month, sharing a video of herself playing the Foo Fighters’ hit song “Everlong” to Twitter. She accompanied the post with the caption: “Mr Grohl I would love to have a drum battle with you! I LOVE Everlong it’s really hard to play as it’s so fast but so much fun.”
The video, which has been watched more than two million times, shows Bushell impressively jamming out to the fast-paced track.
This weekend, Grohl replied to her challenge via the Foo Fighters’ Twitter account.
The drummer wrote: ”Challenge Accepted” and shared a video of himself playing “Dead End Friends” by Them Crooked Vultures.
He thanked Bushell for instigating the drum battle, “Haven’t played these songs in a loooooong time .... thanks for the inspiration!!!” and signed off, “Your friend in rock, Dave.”
In the video, Grohl also praised Bushell’s drumming skills and said he has watched all of the videos on her YouTube channel, which boasts more than 100,000 subscribers.
He said, “You’re an incredible drummer. And I’m really flattered that you’ve picked some of my songs to do for your videos.”
Although Bushell is yet to respond, the young musician shared a reaction video of her excitedly watching Grohl’s short clip.
“This is UNREAL!” she tweeted to her 116,000 followers. “Now it’s my turn to learn ‘dead end friends’ ... I am going to checkmate this one too!”
