Martin, 54, died from “apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound” on Friday, according to a statement from Pasco Sheriff's office in Florida.
The singer and reality TV star, who was due to stand trial on multiple charges of child sexual assault, was found by police officers who were attempting to serve him with a warrant for three counts of sexual exploitation on a minor, along with aggravated sexual battery and solicitation of a minor to commit rape.
Martin was arrested in January after a child alleged he masturbated in front of her last year. He was released after his arrest on bail.
The artist started his country music career in 1997, touring with stars such as Willie Nelson and Charlie Daniels.
He is known for his albums All That I Am and On My Way to You.
