From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

David performed a garage rendition of Justin Bieber’s number one single “Love Yourself” for Trevor Nelson on BBC 1Xtra.
While sticking to the originals verse/chorus structure for the most part, things pick up toward the end when the 34-year-old unleashes a tirade of words in break-beat freestyle. Watch the performance below.
David performed on the X Factor last month with duo Reggie 'N' Bollie, mixing his breakthrough track “Re-Wind” with “Dangerous”.
Earlier in the year, the singer’s single “When the Baseline Drops” entered into the UK top 50, his highest chart entry in seven years.
The track was a collaboration with Big Narstie, the pair performing the single in the same Live Lounge session, giving it an acoustic twist.
David is playing a number of dates across the UK this year, and expect plenty of festival slots.
