Chance the Rapper has contradicted an earlier report that suggested he was preparing to release a new album this week.
Speaking with the Chicago Tribune, the US artist appeared to confirm the album was on the way. The article included the line: "He's finishing the follow-up album to his Grammy-winning 2016 release Coloring Book which he says will be out in a few days."
Chance was also quoted as saying: "I'm excited for everybody to get that. It's going to come out just in time for the Special Olympics [July 21]."
However, on 17 July he tweeted: "Sorry no album this week, def been in the studio tho."
Also in the Tribune interview, Chance discussed the ways in which he might release his upcoming new project.
"I've never been against selling music," he said. "Music has value. I put my music out there for free because I wanted people to see it and notice it as a beacon for what I'm doing, in terms of how unorthodox I wanted my approach and my delivery of each piece of music to be."
Chance has released the vast majority of his work on streaming platforms, and streamed his last album - 2016's Coloring Book - entirely on Apple Music for two weeks before making it available for free elsewhere. In 2017 it became the first streaming-only album to win a Grammy award.
Chance also spoke a little about his upcoming album with Kanye West, revealing that the collaboration came about when he visited the producer in Wyoming.

"We're up in the mountains around these wild animals - it's very different out there - and we got some music done, and then he asked me if he could do an album with me," he said.
"I don't know of a timeline on it yet, the trajectory of it, but he's coming here to work on it some more. We've just started making it, but I don't want to manipulate the situation and impose any time frame, because that can hinder you."

Chance also recently revealed an upcoming collaboration with Childish Gambino, telling Complex's Open Late with Peter Rosenberg: "We've got six songs that are all fire, but I think the album is going to be more than 14 songs."
