Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Cassetteboy has become renown for lambasting politicians, particularly around election time.
Last general election, for instance, the artist release ‘Emperor's New Clothes’, using speeches by then-Conservative leader David Cameron to attack the party’s policies.
This year, the illustrious remixer has sliced numerous snippets from Theresa May’s speeches to attack the Conservatives and the Prime Minister not facing Jeremy Corbyn in a face-to-face debate.
“Only trust the Conservatives if you don’t rely on public services,” May says over a beat made from Diana Ross’s disco anthem ‘I'm Coming Out’.
One part is repeated numerous times, the words going: “I don’t know why people vote for me / It’s like the more policies I talk about / The more problems you see.” The video concludes by urging people to vote. Watch below.
Cassetteboy’s not the only artist to attack May in recent weeks; Captain Ska’s single ‘Liar Liar GE2017’ which attacks the PM has made its way to number four in the official singles charts.
