Carrie Underwood has shared a photo of one side of her face after returning to work following a horrific accident that required 40 stitches in her face.

The country pop star, 34, suffered a broken wrist and extensive facial injuries when she fell down some steps outside her home in November last year.

After surgery, she warned fans she was "not quite looking the same" after the accident, but gradually appears to be sharing photos of herself again.

In the black and white shot of herself in profile, Underwood appeared to be letting fans know she was getting back to work.

In a note to her fans last year that was shared by People, she said: "There is also another part of the story that I haven't been ready to talk about since I have been living it and there has been too much uncertainty as to how things will end up. It's crazy how a freak random accident can change your life.

"In addition to breaking my wrist, I somehow managed to injure my face as well. I'll spare you the gruesome details, but when I cam out of surgey the night of my fall, the doctor told Mike [Underwood's husband] that he had put in between 40 and 50 stitches."

In December, Underwood posed for a picture with Below Deck star Adrienne Gang, who said she had no idea Underwood had been injured.

"I didn't notice anything amiss on her face," she told US Weekly. "Simply, she looked lovely. She was extremely friendly and gracious."
