From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your weird, flailing dancing has officially been upstaged. Major Bruce Springsteen fan, and 9-year-old girl, Anna Paton stole the hearts of the musician's Glasgow crowd by taking over the microphone and rocking some serious a cappella skills.
During The Boss' performance of the classic "Waitin' On a Sunny Day", from his 2002 album The Rising, he spotted Anna sitting on her father's shoulders; rocking a customised baseball cap featuring the Stars and Stripes, and the iconic Born in the USA t-shirt, waving her arms frantically at her musical idol.
Clearly charmed by her enthusiasm, Springsteen invited Anna onstage to take over the song's chorus; bouncing around the stage, and filling the stadium with pure joy and celebration. A sweet moment, ending with the rocker's proclamation, "Wow, you're fabulous!"
Speaking to Anna and her family, The Telegraph reports she had practised the song for several weeks on the off-chance she'd be invited on stage. "When I was on stage I just looked at my cousin the whole time so I wouldn't get nervous so I didn't really notice the huge crowd," she said. "I knew all the words already so I could sing along - just in case I got asked up. I really enjoyed giving him a cuddle, I think that was my favourite part actually, I told everybody at school today and they couldn't believe how lucky I was."
"Bruce is my favourite singer, I love all his songs. I love "Waitin' on a Sunny Day", but also "Atlantic City" and "Dancing in the Dark". I don't think I could choose a favourite really - they're all great."
Springsteen's Glasgow gig, at Hampden Park, was the first night of the UK leg of his huge The River world tour; the first time the musician has played in the country since 2013.
The Boss will play the Coventry Ricoh Arena on 3 June, followed by London's Wembley Stadium on 5 June.
