Rixton claim first UK number one with debut single 'Me and My Broken Heart'
The four members of the band will each have a tattoo done to celebrate
Boyband Rixton have reached number one in the UK singles chart this week with their debut track, 'Me and My Broken Heart'.
The foursome, who hail from Manchester, couldn’t be happier with their achievement, which saw them knock will.i.am’s "My Birthday" of the top spot. They also beat competition from Nicole Scherzinger with her latest single, "Your Love", which entered at number six.
“Being Number One is probably the biggest thing ever that has happened to us in our lives,” frontman Jake Roche, who is the son of Shane Ritchie and Coleen Nolan, told OfficialCharts.com.
"And it means a lot because it's in our home country, and that's something that's been the main goal for us, to really make an impact. It's a dream. Thank you to everyone who has bought it for your support."
The group –who are made of Roche on vocals and guitar, Charley Bagnall on guitar, Danny Wilkin on bass and keyboard and Lewi Morgan on drums – will celebrate by each having a tattoo done to mark the occasion.
The band first attracted last year with "Make Out", which parodied famous music videos, including Rihanna’s “Stay” and “Blurred Lines” by Robin Thicke. However, it was never released as an official single.
In the albums chart, Ed Sheeran beat Morrissey to the pole position with X.
