From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. Game of Thrones and X-Men: Dark Phoenix star Sophie Turner has said she is “SO down” to take on the role of Boy George, after the singer said he wanted her to play him in his forthcoming biopic.

George discussed the film, which is currently in the works at MGM, on the Australian breakfast radio show Fitzy & Wippa.

Asked who he would like to portray him, Boy George replied: “There’s been some really interesting suggestions.

“One of the most interesting suggestions was Sophie Turner. It’s really strange but that’s been a suggestion. I think that would upset people, which I quite like.”

“’’Cause [they would say] ‘Oh, she can’t play you, she’s a woman!’” he continued. ”But when I was 17 I would have loved to have been her. That was the ambition!”

Boy George did specify that he doesn’t know for certain who will end up playing him in the film.

It was revealed in May this year that a Boy George biopic was being developed.

Director Sacha Gervasi, who was at the helm of Hitchcock in 2012, is slated to write and direct the yet untitled movie.
