From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

Your support makes all the difference. With Beyonce poised to drop a new album any day, minute or hour, the rumour mill has been going into overdrive as hype reaches fever pitch.
Fans have waited three long years for the follow up to 2013’s self-titled album and with the singer kicking off her Formation world tour later this month, it figures that fresh tunes should be reaching our eager ears imminently.
In true Bey style, details have been kept secret with nothing but mysterious online whispers to fuel the excitement. No title, release date, tracklist or collaborations have been officially confirmed, so her sixth album will be a full-on surprise.
But of course, in this digital age, social media and speculation enjoy a love affair arguably more powerful than that of Beyonce and Jay Z. So let’s take a look at what Twitter has told us to expect so far:
It’s going to be called B6
Producer Boots, who has collaborated with Bey in the past, put this one out there when he tweeted “B6 is dope” and “the most exciting album I’ve ever worked on”, before arousing even more suspicion by deleting both.
It could be set to drop on 4 April
Why? Well, it’s Bey and Jay’s wedding anniversary on Monday for starters, while the number four is a special one for her as her birthday, her husband’s birthday and her mother’s birthday all fall on the fourth of various months.
There’s going to be an ‘album film’ involving lemonade and Kahlil Joseph
Bey does not do things by halves so this could well be true. Joseph is an Indian actor, while the hashtag #ProjectLemonade has been doing the rounds. It’s all most intriguing.
It will probably feature Jay Z…
Mr Carter has joined his missus on many past hits from “Drunk in Love” and “Deja Vu” to “Part II (On the Run)” and “03 Bonnie & Clyde”. It was promised last year by producer Detail that the couple are “actually doing something together” so who knows, maybe a full-on joint album is heading our way.
…plus a host of other high-profile musicians…
From Sia and Future to D.R.A.M and Swae Lee, everyone is claiming to have shared a studio with Bey over the past year. An almost certainly fake tracklist appeared on Thursday, confirming Adele, Mariah Carey, Kanye West, Nicki Minaj and Frank Ocean as collaborators on various album tracks, but really? That one gets a loud ‘hmm’ from us, not least because Adele’s song is reportedly called “Lemonade Taste”.
…and maybe even Hillary Clinton
The would-be POTUS rocked up on set of a Beyonce music video in LA recently, sparking widespread cries of “What…the…?!” Clinton did say at an Iowa rally that she “wants to be as good a president as Beyonce is a performer” though, so perhaps she was there to pick up some booty-shaking tips.
Expect overt political references to racial tension
Bey’s controversial Black Panthers tribute during her Super Bowl performance looks set to be followed by a music video featuring the families of black teenagers Michael Brown, Trayvon Martin and Tamir Rice, all of whom were fatally shot by police. There’s no word yet on what song the video will accompany, but reports suggest the victims’ mothers will hold up photos of their sons in a moving montage.
To sum up, whatever Bey does, it promises to be explosive.
