Beyonce Homecoming: Singer releases new live album and Netflix documentary

New live album is available on Spotify, TIDAL, and Apple Music

Beyoncé has released a new live album to coincide with the Netflix documentary Homecoming: A Film by Beyoncé.

The album, titled Homecoming: The Live Album, features 40 tracks, the majority of which were performed at Coachella in 2017.

One of the tracks is a cover of “Before I Let Go” by Frankie Beverly and Maze from 1981, which appears over the end credits of the documentary.

The new live album is available on streaming websites Spotify, TIDAL, and Apple Music.

Just hours before the documentary appeared on Netflix, rumours of a new album release from the singer began circulating.

The lyric website Genius listed a new album, titled B7, under Beyoncé’s discography, with an expected release date of 18 April – the day after the release of Homecoming.

Some Twitter users also posted a track-listing on the website – though this has been either taken down.

The release of the live album seems to have rubbished those rumours.

Beyoncé’s two-hour Coachella set saw her make history by becoming the first black woman to headline the festival. She opened the set with 2003 single “Crazy in Love” before inviting husband Jay-Z on stage to perform their 2006 collaboration “Déjà Vu”.

Beyoncé also reunited with former Destiny’s Child bandmates Kelly Rowlands and Michelle Williams during the concert, performing hit singles “Lose My Breath”, “Say My Name” and “Soldier”.

A Netflix spokesman said: “This intimate, in-depth look at Beyoncé’s celebrated 2018 Coachella performance reveals the emotional road from creative concept to cultural movement.”

The singer had been due to perform at Coachella in 2017 but was forced to withdraw from the festival after becoming pregnant with twins Rumi and Sir.

She released her most recent album Lemonade in 2016 to critical acclaim, and will voice Nala in the upcoming remake of Disney’s The Lion King, to be released in July.
