Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Beyonce and Jay-Z opened with a triumphant start to their On the Run II tour in Cardiff, which saw the couple flirt and hold hands during a massive 40-song set, which included hits such as "Crazy In Love" and "99 Problems".
According to the BBC, the show was a "two and a half hour display of affection" which, at one point, saw Beyonce walk over to her husband and begin twerking, "giving him the giggles".
The show included songs that addressed infidelity by Jay-Z, from Beyonce's incendiary album Lemonade, as well as confessional tracks from his own album 4:44. Both records were nominated for Grammy awards at the 2017 and 2018 ceremonies, respectively.
On giant screens that stretched the width of the stadium, images of the couple were torn apart then pieced back together again, while video footage showed them reuniting in a church and renewing their wedding vows, with a message reading: "Endless love."
"Thank you guys for sharing this beautiful night with us," Beyonce said, as they closed the show, once again holding hands.
