Ariana Grande has asked Rihanna to release a new album after she broke the singer’s streaming record earlier this week.

Grande shared a screenshot of a tweet by Chart Data announcing her as the most-streamed female artist of all-time on Spotify, surpassing Rihanna’s previous 20.5 billion stream record.

The pop star accompanied the screenshot with the caption, “holy s***” before she thanked her fans for “listening and caring”.

Grande then wrote, “Now can Rihanna pls drop her album so she can rightfully snatch this back and fill my ears again please or…”

Since Rihanna released her eighth album Anti four years ago, fans have been eagerly waiting for new music.

The singer – real name Robyn Rihanna Fenty – has since chosen to focus on her businesses including Fenty Beauty, lingerie brand Savage x Fenty and luxury fashion line Fenty.

Last month, the “Work” singer assured her fans that new music is on the way. However, Rihanna made it clear she was not going to be pressured into releasing any material sooner than intended.

When I am ready to put it out in the way that I feel fit, it’s gonna come out. You’re not going to be disappointed when it happens. It’s going to be worth it.”

She continued: “I’m not just gonna put it out just because people are waiting. It’s taken this long, I’m gonna make it worth it.”
