Arctic Monkeys frontman Alex Turner has promised fans a new single will arrive soon.

The band's return was officially confirmed in January following the launch of their revamped website, brand new logo and announcement of their first tour date in four years, and now Turner himself has given word on when to expect new music.

William Hann posted a photo on Twitter which seemed to show him meeting the singer, who was reportedly waiting for his girlfriend, at an airport.

“I can confirm the beard remains, but he gave away nothing about UK dates and said the single would be “soon,” he wrote.

Fans have been awaiting confirmation of a new album for some time now, with speculation rife since frontman Alex Turner was photographed reunited with his bandmates in December 2016.

Just last week, Arctic Monkeys announced six new European live dates for May having previously confirmed a further 14 dates across Europe - inluding primavera Sound in Barcelona -as well as one UK date at TRNSMT in Glasgow.

In 2016, Turner united with The Last Shadow Puppet's Miles Kane to tour their sophomore record, Everything You've Come to Expect.
