Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Who are they? A newly experimental Canadian indie rock band from Montreal, fronted by enigmatic husband and wife duo Win Butler and Régine Chassagne, and flanked by Win's brother Will Butler, Richard Reed Parry, Tim Kingsbury and Jeremy Gara.
When are they performing? On Friday, on the Pyramid Stage from 22.00 - 23.45
When can I catch her on TV? If you can’t make it to Glastonbury this year, or just don’t fancy wading through the mud and people, Arcade Fire’s set will be played on BBC Two from 23.00 onwards on Friday.
Why watch their set? Even if you weren’t a fan of electro-indie LP Neon Bible, or the sombre tone of their first album Funeral, you’re bound to revel in the carnival atmosphere of tracks from the band’s calypso-infused, glam-rock concoction Reflektor.
Plus, if their set is any mirror of their recent shows in London, expect a host of special guests, a ton of glitter and some pretty impressive giant head masks, too.
Best Arcade Fire songs to download:
