During Sunday (26 July) night’s ceremony musician, Menken was awarded the accolade for Best Original Song for the track “Waiting in the Wings” from Disney Channel animated series Rapunzel’s Tangled Adventure.
In winning this prize, the musician joins an exclusive group of creatives to have won an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony award in competitive categories.
Only 16 people have ever won EGOTs, with Menken joining the likes of Audrey Hepburn, Whoopi Goldberg, and Andrew Lloyd Webber.
Menken, 70 is best known for his work composing with Disney, having created many of the company’s most iconic songs for films including Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, and Hercules.
He has won eight Oscars for songs including “A Whole New World”, “Under the Sea” and “Colors of the Wind”, as well as 11 Grammys.
His Tony Award was gained in 2012 for musical Newsies, which he won for Best Original Score.
