From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

American indie band Clap Your Hands Say Yeah debuts in the Hype Machine's most blogged artists chart with a new video teasing their upcoming comeback album. Also in the top ten on June 22: American indie band Bon Iver, fronted by folk singer/songwriter Justin Vernon, takes the number one spot, and indie trio The Antlers reenters the chart.

Last month, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah announced their new album, Hysterical, and in recent days dropped a teaser video featuring snippets of new tunes, including one dubbed "Same Mistake." The album, the band's first in four years, is set for a September 20th release date. "From those sound bites it sounds like the band is still in great form and ‘Same Mistake' confirms that assessment," writes The Muse in Music (themuseinmusic.com).

Fronted by Peter Silberman, Brooklyn-based trio The Antlers is a hot topic since the release of their fourth effort, Burst Apart, and followup release to their critically acclaimed 2009 LP Hospice. "The album opener called 'I Don't Want Love' is my favourite cut and sees them embrace their slightly poppier side," writes blogger Eclectic Eavesdropping (eclecticeavesdroppings.tumblr.com). Of the same track, blogger Another Dying Artform (anotherdyingartform.blogspot.com) adds: "Featuring [Silberman's] acrobatic falsetto and a solemn organ, this ode to combative lovers benefits from the band's new clarity and confidence."
