Shock-rocker Marilyn Manson is set to star in an "80-inspired" slasher film alongside fiancée Evan Rachel Wood, according to a May 15 announcement at the Cannes Film Festival.

According to Variety, Splatter Sisters will be the first in a franchise of ‘80s-influenced "sexploitation-serial-killer-slasher-road-movies" to be directed by Adam Bhala Lough (Bomb the System). Also working on the film will be Hollywood producer Edward Pressman and filmmaker David Gordon Green.

Manson, a devout fan of horror movies, has also been working with Wood on his own project, Phantasmagoria: The Visions of Lewis Carroll, which he said in 2007 would feature Manson and Wood as well as model Lily Cole and actress Tilda Swinton. Manson's other film credits include Rise and The Heart is Deceitful Above All Things.
