Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

American folk rock artist Lissie has put together a video session for 'Stay' from her acclaimed new album "My Wild West", and you can watch the premiere right here on The Independent.

The video was filmed at London's Crypt Studio - take a look and let us know what you think.

Q&A with Lissie

What music have you been listening to recently?

Late last year Jeff Lynne's ELO came out with a new record "Alone in the Universe" and I cannot get enough of it!

I really like Kendrick Lamar as well and always go back to the classic sounds of Bobbie Gentry, John Prine & Townes Van Zandt

Are you inspired at all by specific books, songs or films?

I like Murakami's "1Q84" and Phillip Pullman's "His Dark Materials" trilogy for the idea of multiple realities existing simultaneously! My new song "Hero" delves into the concept.

What are you looking forward to for the rest of 2016?

I'm looking forward to sharing my new music while also fixing up and moving into my new home, planting trees, a garden and finding the right balance between work and home.

What was your first gig, and what's been the best so far?

My dad took me to Neil Diamond when I was little and that was pretty cool! It was for the opening of an arena in the area I grew up in. When I lived in Hollywood, I saw Willie Nelson with a big group of friends at the Hollywood bowl and it was a blast & great show.

My Wild West is out now
