Kanye West just released his seventh studio album The Life of Pablo and he’s just announced his latest project on Twitter.
“New album coming this summer,” he wrote on Wednesday.
The announcement came after West blasted the Grammys for being “way off and completely out of touch” and being selective with the black artists its committee chooses to celebrate.
“Hi Grammys this is the most important living artist talking,” he wrote. West said that the Grammys needs to be fixed to honour black musicians.
“You like your black people a certain way also. You wouldn’t have Future perform and that man owned the clubs last summer.”
Neil Portnow, CEO of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences, issued a statement to The Fader after Wests comments.
“Kanye West is a creative pioneer who has been recognized and honored by The Recording Academy time and again. We value his input as a member of the creative community, and our doors are always open to him. I continue to welcome Kanye, personally, to engage in a direct and productive dialogue about the future of music and the important role that music creators play in shaping that future.”
