From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Who is he? Born John Anthony Gillis, Jack White is the warm-up act for this year’s headliner Metallica. The 38-year-old American singer-songwriter released his debut solo album in 2012 after leading three successful bands: The Raconteurs, The Dead Weather and, most notably, The White Stripes.
White has collaborated with a variety of artists, including working with Alicia Keys on the Quantum of Solace theme song "Another Way to Die". White’s legendary guitar riffs and solos have put him at number 70 on Rolling Stone's list of "The 100 Greatest Guitarists", so Glastonbury goers can look forward to some mind-melting air guitar playing.
When is he performing? White will be performing live on the Pyramid Stage on Saturday at 7.30pm.
When can I catch him on TV? Coverage of White's set will be shown on BBC Three from 8pm on Saturday night, alongside that of Lana Del Rey.
Why watch his set? Earlier this month White released his second solo album, Lazaretto, selling a massive 138,000 copies in its first week. The album has made music history, achieving the most vinyl sales made in one week since records began in 1991, so it’s safe to say that White can expect a colossal crowd at Glastonbury this year.
