Your support helps us to tell the story

This election is still a dead heat, according to most polls. In a fight with such wafer-thin margins, we need reporters on the ground talking to the people Trump and Harris are courting. Your support allows us to keep sending journalists to the story.

The Independent is trusted by 27 million Americans from across the entire political spectrum every month. Unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock you out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. But quality journalism must still be paid for.

Help us keep bring these critical stories to light. Your support makes all the difference.

Our most promising young talent, who art INHEAVEN...

Probably a little bedraggled after a spate of festival slots, one of the most exciting new bands in the UK have put out a new video for their track 'Drift', which we're premiering here on The Independent.

Check it out and let me know what you think:

Bassst Chloe Little's vocals are more pronounced on this track and it works so well - she's got a bit of a Sheryl Crow thing going on.

The band say of the video:

"When you listen to our song Drift it should make you feel warm and fuzzy - does everything happen for a reason or are we just drifting along? We knew these melancholy feelings had to be represented on screen. We shot it all on Super 8mm which has a very rich texture, and experimenting with analog format pushed us to concentrate on each frame rather than relying on post-production."

We interviewed the band earlier this year on DIY bands and what they've been getting up to - check it out here

INHEAVEN play Heaven in London on 16 September
