Half Moon Run rooftop London session for 'I Can't Figure Out What's Going On' - video premiere
Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Montreal band Half Moon Run have shot a stunning live session for their latest single "I Can't Figure Out What's Going On", and we're hosting it exclusively here in The Independent.
Following the band's underrated 2012 debut Dark Eyes they produced the follow-up Sun Leads Me On: frontman Devon Portielje comes up with these heartrending laments and isn't afraid to put his emotions on the frontline.
The live session for "I Can't Figure Out What's Going On" was shot when the band were last in London (check out the moon in the background). Take a look and let us know what you think.
Q&A with Half Moon Run
It sounds as though “Sun Leads Me On” was born from quite a fraught time for the band - how do you feel about the result and the reaction the album has had?
We are proud of this album. It is a true reflection of how we play and what we do as a band. The reaction is good - but we try not to react to that as a measurement of success, as hard as that is. It was fulfilling to make and continues to be so to share - isn't that what it's all about?
You've moved away from the sound of your debut record - do you have an idea of which direction you'd like to go in next?
We have no idea - as with before, we just do what sounds good to us and is reasonably within our ability to play. There are no real limits except quality and honesty.
What are you most proud of achieving this year?
Recording and releasing this album!
What are you looking forward to in 2016?
Looking forward to bringing the new tunes and show around the world again, summer festivals especially!
Half Moon Run are on tour in the UK from March 2016
