Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Currently in the midst of a European tour, American indie darlings Fleet Foxes announced on June 20 a new round of tour dates this fall, including a US leg featuring New York-based indie band The Walkmen.

Both bands are hitting the road together on September 6 in Seattle, followed by gigs in Los Angeles, Austin, Tulsa, and Brooklyn.

Fleet Foxes has also added a slew of appearances at festivals throughout Europe this summer, including Way Out West Festival in Oslo on August 12, La Route du Rock Festival in Saint-Malo, France, on August 14, and Lowlands Festival in Biddinghuizen, Netherlands, on August 19. The band will tour the US from September 6 through 29 with The Walkmen, and then return to Europe and the UK from November 10 through December 2 for another round of performances in cities including Rome, Copenhagen, Vienna, Milan, and Leeds. The Walkmen are also currently touring Europe and the UK through September 3 before returning to the US.

Fleet Foxes released their second album, Helplessness Blues, last May via Sub Pop Records to critical acclaim. The Seattle-based band also received praise for their debut album, which peaked at number three on UK album charts and is cited as one of the best albums of 2008 by magazines Rolling Stone, Billboard, Paste, Spin, and Q.

The Walkmen released their sixth album, Lisbon, last year.
