Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Zach Said has dropped a new jam, 'Holding On', which you can listen to first via The Independent.

The Shropshire-born artist, who supported Anderson .Paak at 02 Kentish Town Forum in April this year, describes his music as "that stuff that makes your head twitch and say 'ssshiiittttt aahh daammnn uuummhhhhh' and he lives up to those expectations with this single.

Featuring a foot-stomping beat and a throbbing bass line, it's a great new release to follow up his equally-excellent track "No Love", which dropped back in August.

Q&A with Zach Said

What are you listening to at the moment?

Lots of Daniel Caesar, on repeat, the dudes a don

What are your plans for the rest of the year?

I’ve got an EP release at the end of September and my headline show October 26th, also: eating.

What was the first gig you ever played and what’s been the best so far?

First was an open mic in a church and I accidentally (maybe) swore.

Best one so far has been supporting Anderson Paak in London. Crazy.
