Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference. This year Spotify held an event at Alexandra Palace in London, 'Who We Be', that saw the first ever UK performance by New York rapper Cardi B.

Austin Daboh, senior editor at Spotify, explained: "Spotify is very proud of our work in supporting and nurturing new and exciting urban talent. Bringing this amazing lineup of artists together for Who We Be Live has been an opportunity to celebrate the best of rap and grime talent under one roof. Massive thanks to all the incredible performers, and to the 10,000 fans who blew the roof off Ally Pally!"

Q&A with Stefflon Don
What’s been a highlight of 2017?
There have been so many moments - tonight was definitely a moment. Tonight was definitely a moment. Alan Carr - I love him. He’s the only one I’ve never got starstruck for. My wig nearly came off.
How are you going to top that next year?
Do more. Keep bringing out new tracks. For the majority of the time the songs I like, other people seem to like, so that’s good.
Your live performances are incredible - have you always been that confident onstage?
Kind of! I get a lot of energy from the crowd, like today they were really lit. And then I give extra.
