Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

A new Stones album?

There's a Greatest Hits compilation coming out in a couple of weeks' time, but the focus today is on Ronnie and his new fiancée. Wood, 65, is engaged to the theatre producer Sally Humphreys, who is 31 years his junior.

But then that's never been a problem...

The guitarist's first marriage was to Krissy Findlay in 1971, although he couldn't resist an affair with George Harrison's wife Pattie Boyd during this period. He later settled down with Jo Wood, but their marriage ended after 24 years when in 2008 he had a fling with 19-year-old cocktail waitress, Ekaterina Ivanova. That relationship didn't last: Wood was cautioned for assault and Ivanova described him as an "evil goblin king". Then came 30-something Brazilian model Ana Araujo…

And now Sally. His family must be delighted

They are, actually. Although Humphreys and Wood have been an item for only six months, they have known each other far longer. "Sally's not one of the bimbos he usually goes for. She's exactly what he needs. I don't think he can keep up with bimbos any more," his stepson Jamie said earlier this year. A source told The Sun: "Keith Richards has been laughing about it. He's sick of buying him wedding presents."

Let's hope it lasts

Or at least that there's a pre-nup. Jo Wood recently flogged £400,000-worth of Rolling Stones memorabilia, including Ronnie's 1955 Fender Strat and a drawing he did of Eric Clapton, autographed by the rock star pair.
