Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Drums: Stella Mozgawa

Warpaint's drummer has a great intuitive groove and is the best female drummer I've ever seen. Actually, she's one of the best drummers I've ever seen full stop. She has a different emphasis on certain beats; she's just thrilling to watch.

Bass: Bernard Edwards

He played bass for Chic and he wrote the best bass lines of the last 50 years. He was also inadvertently the godfather of hip-hop. All of his sounds were in his fingers, he wasn't reliant on effects or studio trickery, it was all just natural killer, in the pocket groove.

Guitar: David Okumu & John Fahey

Okumu is from The Invisible, who I've toured with before. We've spoken about having a jam together before but we've never gotten round to it. He's amazing; the whole band is amazing really. I'm envious of his style. Fahey was the first guitarist to draw emphasis on the guitar as a solo instrument within bluegrass and stuff like that. His playing was incredibly evocative and he also had the personal mythology and charisma to make you fall in love with him.

Vocals: Björk

I think she just would be the perfect twist of lemon on top of an already pretty weird band.

Foals' new single "Inhaler" is out on Monday. They tour the UK in March. www.foals.co.uk
