Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Drums: Joey Waronker

He's one of my favourite drummers, and not just because he played on our record. I love everything he's ever done. He's a bit of a legend. I've actually only ever seen him play in a studio setting so I'd love to see what he did on stage.

Bass: Mike Elizondo

We've worked with him in the past. He's also worked with Dr Dre, Fiona Apple and Regina Spektor. He's a fabulous musician and a fabulous bassist.

Keyboard/piano: Helen Marnie and Mira Aroyo

I want the two girls from Ladytron. I absolutely love them. In terms of aesthetic, Tegan and I don't have lots in common with Ladytron but I always thought they were the coolest band.

Vocals: Ryan Adams

My earliest memories of touring were with him in the early 2000s. I remember being incredibly envious but also so admiring of his talent. He could go out onstage solo, with just an acoustic or electric guitar, and play a four-minute song and have everybody in the palm of his hand.

Backing vocals: Patsy Cline

I love girl/boy vocals. Am I allowed to bring Patsy Cline back from the dead? She's one of my favourite female vocalists ever. I guess it's indicative of where I am in my life right now that I haven't even thought about adding a guitarist! Do people still have those?
