My Fantasy Band: Donald Cumming, The Virgins
Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference. Vocals - The Everly Brothers
I love their sound. Those guys really had their own thing going on. But if this really is my fantasy, I'd have Skip James, Neil Young and Bo Diddley singing on stage with them too. That would be epic.
Guitar - Robert Quine and Mick Ronson
Robert Quine did the coolest solos. He could play anything and make it sound weird and original. He played with Lou Reed in the Eighties. I have a DVD of them playing, which I watch all the time. Mick Ronson was great, too, with David Bowie. He was an amazing lead guitarist and a really good producer and arranger and probably an awesome guy.
Bass - Rick Danko
Who doesn't love The Band? They defined an era. Rick was probably the coolest bass player around. He had a lot of struggle in his life. Sadly, he died about 10 years ago.
Drums -'All That Jazz' drummer
I'd like to see the drummer from 'All That Jazz', the 1979 Bob Fosse movie, join these guys on stage. The drummer had a particularly strong look and provided sterling support.
The Virgins' single "Teen Lovers" is out on 23 February on Atlantic Records.
